Supervision

"You need to be aware of what others are doing, applaud their efforts, acknowledge their successes, and encourage them in their pursuits. When we all help one another, everybody wins."

–Jim Stovall

I am a qualified Supervisor with extensive experience of working with and supporting both trainee and qualified therapists, offering both 1:1 and group supervision. My background includes substantial expertise in supporting trainee therapists on the CPCAB and Foundation Degree programs in both the Arts and Sciences.

I am an Integratively qualified Counsellor with a person-centred approach to therapy. I draw on my knowledge of Clarkson’s 5 Relational Model and am also informed and integrate Gestalt, Existentialism, Attachment Theory, Transactional Analysis, and some Cognitive Behavioural Therapy into my supervisory practice.

I will tailor the supervision I provide to suit your needs based on what we discuss, agree and contract for our work together as I recognise you are as individual as the clients you support. To this end, I will draw on a variety of creative resources that will most effectively enhance your supervisory experience and benefit your client work.

Four arms and hands interconnected in a group, symbolising collaboration and support in supervision for trainee counsellors.

Supervision Framework

My supervision practice is based on Inskipp & Proctor’s (2001) Tasks of Supervision, drawing on the Formative, Normative and Restorative approach. Thus, it is my aim and intention to provide you with a supportive, safe and guiding relationship whilst offering education, learning and development and monitoring of practice.

As supervisor, I have a responsibility to ensure your safe and ethical practice to promote both the welfare of you, as therapist, and your client.

I do not approach the supervisory relationship as an ‘expert’ but see it as a collegial ‘coming together’ where drawing on my knowledge and experience we can enhance professional development and the therapeutic growth for your client. As supervisor and supervisee we share a duty of care to both client’s and the counselling profession to ensure ethical standards are maintained as set out by the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice.

I am able to offer face-to-face and online supervision on a 1:1 or group basis and support student counsellors from Level 4 Diploma onwards, providing a safe and learning environment.
